Happy New Year!

We hope that you had an enjoyable holiday season. Thank you to everyone who attended our town hall meetings in December. Weʻve had a lot of success in 2015, and could not have done it without your support!

Campbell Estates presents on Makaiwa Hills
On December 8th, community members gathered at Kamokila District park to learn about the Makaiwa Hills development project. Steve Kelly of Campbell Estates presented updates and answered questions. The Makaiwa Hills project received permits, but requires $200 million for infrastructure before beginning construction. Mr. Kelly also noted that currently Campbell Estates does not have a buyer/developer for Makaiwa Hills. The project remains dormant. Chief Kamita gives last presentation in Nanakuli
On December 9th, community members gathered at Kamehameha Learning Center in Nanakuli for a drug awareness forum. Chief Keith Kamita of Narcotics Enforcement Division, Allen Shin of Drug Free Hawaii, and Sgt. Henry Souza of the Honolulu Police Department were in attendance to educate community members and answer questions. This event was Chief Kamita’s last presentation as the Chief of the Narcotics Enforcement Division. He retired from government service on Dec. 31, 2015. He was recognized by Rep. Tupola with a certificate from the House of Representatives.

Kapolei Chorale Annual Christmas Concert
On December 12th, the Kapolei Chorale hosted it’s Annual Christmas Concert at the Kapolei Library. Doris Dudley, the Chorale founder and President selected Rep. Tupola to conduct three pieces of music. The chorale members worked very hard and had a great performance. Thank you to everyone you participated in the event.
