Senator Gabbard met with the Special Olympics Hawai‘i Board of Directors on March 1, to discuss their new Sports & Wellness Center, going up in Kapolei, next to the Kroc Center. Special Olympics helps people with intellectual disabilities participate in individual and team sports, so that they may experience the physical, mental social, and spiritual benefits that result from sports training and competition. Their Facebook description says, “Special Olympics unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports everyday in Hawaii.” (L-R: Sam Moku, Vice Chair & Director of Community Government Relations HPU; Nancy Bottelo, President and CEO; Sen. Gabbard; Lance Tanaka, Board Member.)
